Waiting Magazine - Edition 3 - New York City

Waiting Magazine’s third edition features Zaïna Gaza, a singer from France about to release her debut EP, and Trà My Truong, a mixed-media designer from Vietnam specializing in restaurant brand development. The magazine additionally profiles Tristen Fabricant, an embroidery and paint artist, as he shows his work in an exhibition for the first time in his career. Writer Branden Janese lends her thoughtfulness to her past year of finishing a book and returning to the restaurant industry. We sit in rapper AVGUST’s home studio as he shows us how he sampled his own original music to create a debut album of inverse song pairings. Finally, Luis Miguel Ibarra looks back on just three months of living in New York, and what it’s been like to serve as his own modeling agent.

Edition 3 also highlights Virginia’s, an American bistro-style joint in the East Village. We spoke with the restaurant’s general manager who doubles as a fashion designer and two servers who act on film and stage about their place of work and how it fits into their busy lives.

In addition to our artist stories, we’ve got some satirical pieces addressing life as an artist in the server world. We dive into the necessary grieving process that comes with accepting that black clogs are the best shoe to wear during an eight-hour dinner shift, and we give free Table Bread the stage to meditate on the impending truth that restaurants are beginning to charge their guests for bread and butter.
